A small finance desk, built for the fast half of the market

Businessnumbersclear opened in 2026 because growing companies in Singapore were receiving a usable month too late to steer with it. The desk is a retained way to put a date on the pack, keep every figure recoverable, and say when the data cannot yet support the claim.

Why we started in 2026

Our office in Singapore

Fast companies in this city are not short of activity. They are short of a month they can still act on. Bank, processor, CRM and three workbooks each hold a slice of the truth, and the slice is assembled after the campaign has already run. We started the desk to make that assembly a product: same format, same date, same trail back to source.

The market already has accountants, auditors and full-time finance leads. The gap we chose is the week between “the ledger posted” and “leadership can decide”. That week is where hiring, spend and pricing either wait or go through on instinct.

Late numbers are expensive

A close that lands in week three is not a character flaw in the team. It is what happens when growth adds channels faster than definitions. Our work is to put definitions in writing and then refuse to reopen them every month for convenience.

How we work

A fixed release date

The pack ships on a published day. If a feed is late, the pack declares it. Moving the date to wait for a tidy file is how the month is lost.

Recoverable figures

Any material number can be rebuilt from a source file in the meeting. If it cannot, it does not go in the pack. Plugs are named or they are refused.

One format, and a willingness to say “not yet”

Tabs do not wander from month to month. When the data are too thin for a strong claim, we write that down rather than dressing a guess as a KPI.

These are operating rules, not slogans. They exist because a growing company is tempted to change the pack every time a director asks a new question. We would rather add a defined cut than invent a new file. The desk is small on purpose so the people who built the mapping are the people who still read the release.

The desk model

We are a retained analytics desk. That is different from an audit, which tests a period against a standard and then leaves. It is different from bookkeeping, which posts the ledger so the company can file. A desk sits in the calendar: collection, draft, release, review. You keep your accountant. You keep whoever holds the finance seat. We supply the artefact those people use to talk to each other while the month is still warm.

For you that means a named date, a named owner on your side, and a scope that does not quietly become “whatever finance needs this week”. When the work should grow, we write a change. When it should stop, thirty days’ notice ends the retainer without a theatre of handover delays.

Client review meeting

What this is not

It is not a second finance department and it is not a software licence. If you need a full-time finance lead, hire one; we will feed that person. If you need statutory accounts, call your accountant.

Where we work

Singapore, SGT hours

The office is at 51 Telok Ayer Street, #08-04. Visits are by appointment. Most of the work is remote across SGT, which is the useful window for groups that also run entities in the region. We schedule live sessions in that window so a handover is not an evening call for the people who have to run the pack the next morning.

Several jurisdictions, one reporting currency

Many of the companies who write to us already trade across more than one legal entity. We map the group, report in SGD unless the scope says otherwise, and keep intra-group lines visible. We do not pretend a regional close is the same size as a single-entity sprint.

What good looks like to us

The month has a date

Leadership can point to a calendar square and know the pack will be there. That date survives a busy week. If it moves, the reason is written, not shrugged.

The argument is about the decision

Meetings stop spending their first half on which margin is “real”. Definitions are in the pack. The remaining time is for hiring, pricing, spend, or a pause.

Someone on your side can refresh it

A desk that cannot be handed over is just another bottleneck. After the sprint, a named person inside the company can produce a draft. We stay for the rhythm if you want us; we do not hold the file hostage.

Write with a stuck number

Send last month’s P&L and the question it cannot answer. That is enough to see whether the desk is the right shape for you.
